Overall situational picture of security of supply 27 May 2025: The situation is expected to remain stable
The overall situation of security of supply is stable and is expected to remain so in the coming months.
Despite the positive general outlook, some sectors are experiencing delivery disruptions that are causing inconvenience to consumers. A particularly prolonged disruption has affected the availability of certain medicines. In the food supply chain, there have been challenges with the availability of minced meat. Air traffic has also experienced disruptions due to industrial action.
Russia’s actions in the Baltic Sea, such as the use of shadow fleets, GNSS interference, and maritime warnings, are increasing instability in the region. The Baltic Sea is the most critical transport route for Finland’s security of supply.
Trade negotiations between the EU and the United States are ongoing. The outcome of the negotiations is difficult to predict. Preparations should still be made for a possible escalation of the trade conflict.
The overall situational picture of security of supply compiled by the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) examines the challenges in the operating environment from several perspectives. The situational picture report includes an overview of different industries’ ability to function and the challenges they may face.
The NESA updates the overall situational picture once a month and releases a brief summary of the situational picture report. The details concerning industries are classified and are therefore not made public.
