Overall situational picture of security of supply: Hybrid threats increased in various industries
Many industries report events or concerns related to hybrid threats in their situational picture reports. The situational picture compiled by the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) highlights GPS/GNSS interference especially in different areas of logistics and particularly in air transport.
Some companies have noted increases in drone flying, denial-of-service attacks, various types of intelligence gathering and cyber scams, for example.
The overall situational picture of security of supply compiled by the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) examines the challenges in the operating environment from several perspectives. The situational picture report includes an overview of different industries’ ability to function and the challenges they may face.
The NESA updates the overall situational picture once a month and releases a brief summary of the situational picture report. The details concerning industries are classified and are therefore not made public.
Situational picture on 17 May: Security of gas supply is strong
The Balticconnector undersea gas pipeline has been operating without issue following the repairs that were completed on 22 April 2024. As a result, security of gas supply has strengthened.
The current situation in the global maritime logistics industry and especially the Red Sea crisis are causing some delays and uncertainty in logistics. This uncertainty is manifesting in the form of rising costs and longer delivery times due to route changes, for example.
The disruptions caused by the political strikes organised in March and their consequences have been nearly completely addressed, and the situation has normalised in most industries, including manufacturing. Some ports are still clearing the backlog caused by the strikes.
In health care, negotiations on the collective agreement for the private healthcare service sector (TPTES) are underway, in relation to which strike notices have been issued.
