Overall situational picture of security of supply showing talent shortages in several industries

The overall situational picture of security of supply has remained stable during the past month. Many industries are being negatively affected by the weakened state of the economy and talent shortages, but their impacts on security of supply are minor. Disruptions in the availability of medicines continue.

The National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA), together with the National Emergency Supply Organisation (NESO), maintains an overall picture of security of supply to support the decision-making of the private sector and the Finnish government.

The situational picture report includes an overview of different industries’ ability to function and the challenges they may face. The overall situational picture of security of supply examines the challenges in the operating environment from several perspectives. As of the start of 2023, the situational picture is updated once a month.

The NESA releases a brief summary of the situational picture report. The details concerning industries are classified and are therefore not made public.

Situational picture on 8 May: Shortage of skilled health care personnel

According to the overall situational picture, the availability of health care equipment and supplies is slowly improving. However, the availability of medicines continues to be affected by frequent disruptions. In addition to this, the availability of personnel with health care training has remained low. The upcoming summer holiday season will most likely further exacerbate the situation in terms of resources.
