National Emergency Supply Council

The National Emergency Supply Council operates in connection with the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) as a cooperation body between public authorities, the private sector and non-governmental organisations.

The National Emergency Supply Council’s tasks are to promote cooperation between public authorities, the private sector and non-governmental organisations on security of supply issues, analyse threats to security of supply, promote research in this field, issue statements on cooperation in the field of security of supply and take initiatives to develop security of supply.

The National Emergency Supply Council is appointed by the Finnish Government based on a proposal from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment for a maximum term of three years. The National Emergency Supply Council should include representatives of public authorities, companies critical to security of supply and non-governmental organisations. The chair and no less than half of the other members represent private sector companies.
